GUIDELINES & SUBMISSION FORM


Since 1985, The Milano and Bologna Festival Internazionale di Cinema GayLesbico, has been the only Milanese and Bolognese event of public screenings of lesbian & gay films and has become one of the largest audience event in both cities.
The 2002 edition was a record success. It was the sixth year for our competitive sections: feature films, documentaries, short films, judged by international juries. The eleven days of screenings were succesfully attended by more than 14.000 viewers. National and local TV, radio, web and press coverage has been growing along with high number of journalists and professionals attending the event.
The winner film as Best feature 2000 HEAD ON, has been afterwards bought by Mikado, an Italian distributor, as well as the winner of Best feature 2001 DROLE DE FELIX.
The 16th International Lesbian and Gay Milan - Bologna Film Festival will be sponsored by the Italian National Cultural Office and will be co-organized and co-sponsored also by the Cultural Office of the Provincia di Milano and by the Museums and Cultural Affairs Office of the Comune di Milano and Regione Lombardia. The screenings in Bologna at Cinema Lumiére, National Cinemateque are co-organized and co-sponsored by the Cultural Office and the Social Affairs Office of the Regione Emilia Romagna, Provincia di Bologna and Comune di Bologna.
It is also confirmed the collaboration and co-sponsoring guaranteed by the International Foregin Cultural Offices based in Italy like the Céntre Culturel Français, the British Council, the British Film Institute, the Goethe Institut, the Canadian Embassy in Rome and the General Canadian Consolate of Milan. The main private sponsors of the Festival have been American Airlines, Mondadori, Mondadori Video, il Saggiatore, Oscar Mondadori, Raffaello Cortina Edizioni, Baldini & Castoldi, ES, Duel, La Repubblica, Eagle Pictures, Sei Milano, Babilonia, Pride, Duel, Gay.it, Emik, OUT Magazine, Mikado, Cecchi Gori, Lucky Red, Benetton, Energy, Body Shop, British GO, Scandinavian Airlines, TIMEOUT, Veryweb.
Along with the screenings of the films other cultural events are related to the MBLGFFDavid Leavitt presented and discussed with the audience his new books and along with other guests we'd like to remember Miriam Makeba, who presented and attended the Italian premiere of the documentary The man who drove with Mandela. The viewers in seven days during the Milan's screenings are around 11000 and 3000 in five days in Bologna.

In the past five years the Milan International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival has earned a respected and highly visible position in Milan's cultural events, with a succesfull press and Tv coverage and attendance of members of the Italian audiovisual industry.
 
 
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & REGULATIONS
 

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 20th APRIL 2002

 
Please send us preview cassettes of your work, as soon as possible, following the instructions listed below. We thank you in advance for your attention and hope we'll have the opportunity of promoting your film in Italy screening it between the 29th of May and the 8th of June 2002 during our 16th MBLGFF. We also try to help filmmakers come to attend screenings of their work.
  1. There is no entry fee for submissions.
  2. The Milano-Bologna Lesbian and Gay Film Festival considers films and videos of all genres, any length, by about and/or of interest to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people. 
  3. Please label submission tapes with film/video title, filmmaker's name, tel/fax/email.
  4. Preview tapes in languages other than Italian must be accompanied by an English dialog transcript or at least one in theoriginal language. The transcript can also be sent as attachment via email. The original dialog transcript is very important inorder to allow the best translation possible for our audience. If the transcript is not available right away, it will be necessary atleast one month before the public screening. 
  5. Final program decisions will be made by the 10th of May 2002. 
  6. All preview tapes will be kept by the Festival as part as the archive of Lesbian & Gay images for the Video library of ArciGay Italian National L&G non profit organization, only for study or research purposes.
  7. Programmed works may be excerpted (up to a limit of 3 minutes) for TV/Web/Radio promotional purposes. 
  8. Filmmaker certifies that he or she holds the rights for submission of film/video to the Milano-Bologna Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
