 L'intento del regista di questo film è chiaro fin dal suo sottotitolo: si tratta senza mezzi termini di una 'commedia molto romantica', di un antidoto al cinismo, di un dono per i sognatori che ancora credono nella magia dei grandi gesti romantici."Un giorno di circa 4 anni fa - spiega Mignatti - , mi sono svegliato e mi sono reso conto che ero diventato molto più disincantato di quanto desiderassi; lavoravo nella pubblicità - dirigevo spot, video, filmati di moda-, e molto di ciò che dovevo fare doveva essere molto estremo, molto 'in', e ho capito che era solo un altro modo in cui la nostra cultura guidata dalla paura si induriva rispetto all'amore, al romanticismo e alla gioia".  La trama: Marc e Robert, appena laureati alla New York University, si trovano un appartamento nel cuore del Greenwich Village per spiccare il volo nel mondo del teatro. Entrambi appassionati di musical, Marc lavora duro per ottenere il suo primo ruolo da attore mentre Robert sogna di scrivere il prossimo "West Side Story" e coronare il suo sogno d'amore con Marc di cui è segretamente innamorato. A completare il quadro c'è Cynthia, che passa le giornate a fare shopping con la carta di credito del papà, e David, fusto con ambizioni da pop star, per il quale Marc perde la testa...The director's intention is clear from the film's subtitle: 'a very romantic comedy', an antidote to cynicism, a gift to the dreamers who still believe in the magic of the grand romantic gesture. "One day I woke up realizing that I'd become more jaded than I'd ever intended to be - explains Mignatti -, I was working in advertising, fashion stuff, TV commercials. So much of it was supposed to be edgy and hip, and I realized that it was just another way our fear-driven culture hardens itself against love, romance and joy." The plot: Marc and Robert, just graduated from NYU, find an apartment in the heart of Greenwich Village to spread their wings in the theatre world. Both in love with Broadway musicals, Marc works hard to get his first acting job, while Robert, secretly in love with Marc, dreams of settling down with him and writing the next "West Side Story". To make the picture complete there's Cynthia who spends the days shopping on daddy's credit card, and David, a hunk pop star wannabe, over whom Marc lose his head... |
